Frequently asked questions
The Carl Mk2 weighs approximately 43 kg (95 lbs).
The maximum seat height on the electric Carl chairs is 900 mm (35.4 in), allowing most surgeons to achieve an ergonomic working posture.
An ergonomic surgical chair such as Rini Carl improves stability, comfort, and control during surgery. By reducing unnecessary strain and supporting the body and arms, surgeons can work in a more relaxed posture while maintaining high precision, even during lengthy procedures.
Yes. All Rini Carl surgical chairs are Class I medical devices under MDR (EU) 2017/745 and are FDA registered. They comply with relevant international standards for safety and quality, including ISO 13485.
Ophthalmic surgeons choose RiEye Mk2S because it combines efficient patient positioning, exceptional ergonomic access around the patient’s head, and excellent head stability for microsurgery. The patented adaptive headrest minimizes manual patient handling, while programmable positions help ensure a consistent and ergonomic setup for every procedure. The result is improved workflow efficiency, enhanced surgeon comfort, and a better experience for both patients and clinical staff.
RiEye Mk2S combines the advantages of both an operating chair and an operating table. Thanks to its low seat height, many patients can sit down independently, similar to an operating chair. At the same time, it provides the positioning capabilities, stability, and functionality of a modern operating table, including supine, seated, Trendelenburg, and surgical positioning.
RiEye operating tables have been sold internationally for more than 25 years and are currently used in hospitals and clinics across Europe, North America, Asia, the Middle East, and Oceania.
To ensure optimal performance, the table should be synchronized according to the instructions provided on the backrest after approximately 1,000 procedures. When synchronization is required, the hand control automatically displays a flashing reminder. In addition, we recommend an annual preventive maintenance inspection carried out by an authorized Rini service technician to ensure continued safety, reliability, and performance.
Yes. The cushions can be removed quickly for cleaning or replacement.
The expected service life depends on usage frequency, maintenance practices, and the hospital’s internal procedures. Many hospitals plan for an economic service life (depreciation period) of 5–10 years for medical devices. With proper servicing and preventive maintenance, however, the RiEye Mk2S can remain in use for significantly longer. Several of our operating tables have remained in continuous clinical service for more than three decades.
